Eternal Misery

A word,

A whisper,

A sudden call to fight,

Like a general called to war,

He bellows at me with all his might,

Nagging,

Berating,

Each flaw pulled and prodded,

Every action cause for silent rebuke,

In agony I push,

Trying to run free,

But like a tiger hunting its prey,

He stalks,

Pouncing at my worn out soul,

Taking me down once again,

And so I stand,

Shaking and trembling,

With exhaustion threatening to take hold,

I run,

Not looking back,

I flee,

Away from the words that haunt my mind,

From this eternal misery.
